Is it the nightingale? - Es war die Nachtigall

These new pieces let me work the way I like: they are very frail and almost transparent. They weigh almost nothing and the materials are also rather transparent. You cannot see through though, just the necessary lightness. The stand is also done to just hold the piece.

I love this quality they have. It was what I wanted to do as I tried to go beyond quilting. To stitch without having to fight with the thickness of the piece. To hang them from a small branch without breaking it...

This is a bigger piece, about 6"x9 1/2" (15 x 23 cm)

I worked much more on the background with free motion embroidery and stitching. I also painted it a little. I knitted the dress of the little lady and covered it with organza. I also used metallic organza for her hair and paper for the ornament and the background. A shisha mirror is also encased on the top.

  5. Sara! I am soooo tempted with this one! But truthfully what I'd really love, when you feel inspired and in the mood, is a unique version of your 'Fairy Nest' with the little fairies riding in the bird! - to hang by my birdcages... Only if you feel inspired of course... Hugs from Ulla!
