Certified Mail Surcharge

Dear friends,

Now and again I have problems with pieces I've sent not arriving to their new home. I am happy though that only small pieces had this kind of problems but I must prevent a major damage happening some time with a lotto probability...

It is really a pity that these things like .... happen. I had one angel to Portugal and 2 brooches to the USA not arriving to the ladies who ordered them. It is also very difficult for me to handle this because I'm not the one to be blamed, I did the work and I pay my taxes and the buyers would expect me either to do the piece once more or to refund them the value of the piece. A 3 times loss for me: work, tax, money. The buyer loses only the money but this is hard enough too.

I've offered to return half of the value of the piece or give a voucher for the total for the next buy to the person who bought the last lost brooch.

The only sure thing is when the recipient must sign that he received the piece, do you all have this possibility in your countries with certified mail? If someone lives in a country that doesn't has this service, I would be happy to know this!

I now offer a 3,20US$ surcharge for a certified shipping that you can order together with your main order. I hope this will help you decide if you want to have this security or if you would like fate to decide the game... (I must confess that I'm a gambler in this...at least for small objects, but then I have to carry the consecuences...)

Can I have a feedback from all of you who are willing to think about this theme?
It would be a great help because all of this web possibilities are so new...

Sneak Preview II - Vorschau II

I continue with the sneak preview of my little village. It is going to appear in QA or CPS, I don't quite know which one yet because there are some things going in both... So keep tuned with these magazines, I suppose you all read them!

This time I have news for my German readers...

Diesmal habe ich eine Nachricht nur auf Deutsch. Ich wollte sagen, daß ich einen Artikel über den Babylock Embellisher in der Zeitschrift FUN "VerFilzt und Zugenäht" geschrieben habe.

Nach diesem Artikel kommt eine Serie über Bloggen, Flickr, Etsy und Dawanda, in der ich die Bedienung und Möglichkeiten all dieser Anwendungen erklären werde.

This is the story of 5 little pillow gnomes. Three of them are playing outside and wear their green bonnets. These hat allow them to play unobserved in the woods and meadows. If you see them you think they are leaves. The two little ones in their mushroom house are waiting for their bonnets to dry. They were full of dew because they forgot them outside after playing the day before. Their little dog is hiding behind the house and Peter Rabbit is looking at them. Rabbits can see gnomes. We can't...

The names of the gnomes are 1,2,3,4 and 5.

I made this pillow for a 6 years old child who likes gnomes, nature and his dog. I hope he likes it!
I adapted the techniques for the age of the kid.

Diese ist die Geschichte von 5 kleine Polsterzwerge. Drei von ihnen spielen draußen und tragen ihre grüne Hauben. Dies erlaubt ihnen, unbemerkt in Wald und Wiesen zu spielen. Man glaubt, daß sie Blätter sind, wenn man sie sieht. Die Kleinen im Pilzhaus warten, daß ihre Mützen trocken werden. Sie sind in der Nacht mit Tau naß geworden, da sie vergessen haben, sie wieder ins Haus zu nehmen. Ihr kleiner Hund versteckt sich hinter dem Haus und man sieht nur den Schwanz. Peter Hase schau sich die Szene an. Hasen können Zwerge sehen. Wir nicht...

Die Namen der Zwerge sind 1,2,3,4 und 5.

Ich habe diesen Polster für einen 6-Jährigen gemacht. Ich hoffe er mag ihn! Ich habe die Techniken dem Alter des Kindes angepaßt.

Self designed Toile - Selbst entworfene Toile

This weekend I gave a workshop for a very nice lady of Vienna and we worked with image transfers. After she left I had the idea of printing a toile with my own motives.

This was real fun. If you look at the picture I have used photos of all this: my farm, the landscape you see through the kitchen window, my mother and uncle, one grandson, some textile works of mine, our old dog, a terrace decoration, mixed up with some Dover archives illustrations.

I did it so that the rapports could be used for a print, one gets into the next one. This was fun to do too.

I did it in black and in blue. All with Photoshop. I will use it for small pieces of fabric.

Dieses Wochenende kam eine sehr nette Wienerin zu mir zu einem privat Workshop und wir arbeiteten - unter Anderem - mit Bildertransfers. Da kam mir die Idee, selber Toile zu drucken und Nachmittag habe ich daran gearbeitet.

Es war sehr lustig. Wenn man das Foto anschaut, habe ich Folgendes verwendet: ein Foto von unserem Bauernhof, die Landschaft, die man durch das Küchenfenster sieht, Familienmitglieder, unser ehemaliger Hund, einige Texilwerke von mir und Illustrationen von den Dover Archives.

Ich schaute, daß die Motive als Rapport ineinander gehen, so daß man sie für einen Druck verwenden kann. Das war auch eine lustige Beschäftigung.

Ich habe sie mit Photoshop in schwarz und blau gemacht. Damit möchte ich kleine Stoffstücke bedrucken.
