Watch over me - Beschütze mich

I'm fascinated with more 3D possibilities to present my work.

I used wool and variegated it. I also used different organzas and lace, paper, fabric and knitting wool. The feet have two small stone beads and the crown has a mother of pearl button.

I stitched tiny white pearls around the face.

This small picture (3 1/2" x 6") stands on her feet.

Swap

I'm having fun with a swap I organized in December and I wanted to share with you my first piece.

We are supposed to do 10 of them for all the other 9 participants and oneself in the choice of colour of each of them. This explanation is for the ones who want to organize something similar!

We leave a place to put letters in the middle of each triangle so that the banner reads "creativity" when it's finished.

A Chat at the Porch - EinTratsch am Portal

I wanted to try some new fabrics I got and this is the result. The photo is a little bit dark because in winter I'm not having the ideal light for shooting... Anyhow it is one of my pieces which call for a frame (I mostly use a white one).

I used many fabrics and paper and also machine embroidery to do some details. It's a combination of drawing and stitching. The paper underneath is a hand made one.

The size is about 8"x10" (20x25cm)

Holidays production - Feiertagsausbeute

Not everything is fabric...

In the holidays I watched some films in TV. Because I can't keep my hands idle I stitched two capelets and and actually three Moebius scarfs (the children took them as soon as they were finished so that I couldn't even take a photo!).

I am a member of Ravelry and I was waiting for some spare time to knit. Now I have enough of it! :-)

The voodoo sweater is a wonderful solution I found for my needles storage problem. I never could find the needles I needed. Now I got the idea to hang them like you can see on the photo. I hung the sweater in my studio.

Holy water - Weihwasser

Photos are better if seen LARGE.

I finished the piece I was working on.

It is one of my "serious" :-) ones. I would like to explain the process.

I noticed I work in a kind of brainstorming way. Beginning with one idea and my favorite techniques I begin setting a scene. This time I was thinking of the woods and of the fable creatures people of all nationalities and traditions place there.

The next association were the "Marterl". These are a kind of religious monuments you can find in the landscape, in the fields or in the woods in Austria. They are places to commemorate someone who happened to die at this place because of an accident or mere places of worship.

I always wonder when I find one of them during a hike tour what kind of believe moved these people to put such an anachronistic object in the middle of a landscape. They show Madonnas in full attire, souls roasting in purgatory, bishops in gold and silver... and I was thinking about fables and superstitions... but, which is which??? somehow I find that the elves are nearer to the woods ...

And then there is this source in the wood where we fetched a healing water (well, my husband did as he had his head operation) and which is now only working because they're pumping the water up with a pumping device (the miracle source disappeared some years ago), and there are these kiosk at Mariazell, Altötting (Holy Mary Sanctuaries in Austria and Baviera) which I visit when I happen to be near to them because of the atmosphere they have, full of candles and "milagros" hanging from the walls.

Scapularies and Milagros are sold everywhere, they hang from the kiosks and in the churches, people wear them and buy them. The ones who are going to the purgatory and the ones who sleep into heaven...

And of course I was thinking about these altar painting where the bad ones burn in the fire and the good ones are surrounded by clouds!!!

"Serious" :-) - "Ernst" :-)

I'm doing something else once more. I had enough from colors. I always like etchings as an art form and this is the one thing that inspires this kind of work.

I also like the framed pieces done this way.

These are two details of the piece I'm working on. They are very small, the appliqué leaf is about 1/4"x1/2".

I'm using your fabrics, Jude. Now I found a way to incorporate them into my work.

Now I go to the studio and continue working...!

Ich habe wieder was Anderes gemacht.

I liebe diese Stücke einzurahmen.
